After a number of false starts (and hoping the Beast from the East has gone back to its lair), we finally managed to get into the garden this week.
Job #1 was pruning our mature hazels to invigorate them and clean up the base – note Carol sporting a fetching pair of blue Showa gloves! Early Spring is the ideal time to prune hazels as it gives them plenty of time for fresh growth.
Job #2: checking the garlic in our 250mm Raised Beds to make sure it survived the snow and biting winds. Luckily all looked good, with nice, green and healthy looking shoots.
All that was left was a general tidy up. Not the most glamorous of jobs, but necessary to prepare for the season ahead. Here’s to the start of Spring and warmer days to come!
